Marvels Avengers PS5 PS4

Levelling up your trusty group of superheroes in Marvel's Avengers will take much longer than before once the native PlayStation 5 version is released on 18th March 2021. That's because developer Crystal Dynamics is increasing the amount of XP you'll need to reach the maximum rank of 50 as part of an upcoming patch that will be deployed alongside the current-gen version. The California-based studio claims this is being done because players are currently levelling up too quickly, leading to pacing problems and the potential to overwhelm new players.

Detailed over on the game's official site, it is explained that the development team doesn't really believe its XP curve actually is one whatsoever. Instead, it's a straight line — every level requires the same amount of XP to reach. "This has led to pacing issues, such as skill points currently being rewarded too fast, which may be confusing and overwhelming to newer players. We want each decision to invest in a skill or Heroic to be more meaningful." Because of this, the number of experience points you need to level up will gradually increase as you reach level 25. The previous ranks won't have their XP requirements tweaked. Crystal Dynamics has advised you work on levelling up your characters before this patch hits on 18th March if you don't want to have to earn more XP.

Elsewhere, cosmetic rewards are being tweaked and having their randomness factor removed. This is being done to provide "more player agency and clarity about how to obtain" items. While this is being worked on, the cosmetic vendor will still offer various Outfits and Nameplates. Some emotes will also be added to the store in question when 18th March arrives.

The developer signs off by saying that these changes will make Marvel's Avengers "a more balanced experience overall". What do you think of these changes? Let us know in the comments below.
